Der Zweite Bildungsweg in Form von Schulen für Erwachsene fußt auf der Idee einer Unabgeschlossenheit von Bildungsverläufen. Gleichzeitig eröffnet er eine Möglichkeit zur Transformation desselben. Subjektiv erlangt er Bedeutung als Neustart der beruflichen Karriere oder als Möglichkeit der Höherqualifikation und Umorientierung. Dies verweist auf eine allgemeine Dynamik der De-Standardisierung von Lebensverläufen und betont eine Individualisierungsbewegung im Erwachsenenalter. Diese Individualisierung trifft im Erwachsenenalter auf unterschiedlichste Lebensmodelle. Im Fokus dieser Arbeit stehen dabei Frauen, die sich aus einer Paarbeziehung heraus für den Schulbesuch im Erwachsenenalter entscheiden. Gerade für diese Gruppe scheint ein besonderes Potential der Emanzipation im Zweiten Bildungsweg zu liegen. Tragend ist dabei die Idee eines sozialen und beruflichen Aufstiegs gegenüber dem Partner/der Partnerin durch den angestrebten Bildungsabschluss. Über einen Mixed-Methods Ansatz wird die These geprüft, inwiefern das Bildungssubjekt (Ich) und die Paarkonstruktion (Wir) spannungsreiche Antipoden der Entscheidung darstellen. Die Ich-Ebene – untersucht über eine quantitative Fragebogenstudie – eröffnet die dominanten Motive eines Bildungsstrebens sowie eines beruflichen Aufstiegswunsches bei gleichzeitiger Ausblendung des Partners/der Partnerin aus der Bildungsentscheidung. Dem gegenüber steht eine Haltung zum Wir – untersucht über eine qualitative-rekonstruktive Interviewstudie ‒, welche die Entscheidung als delegativen Mechanismus einordnet. Es wird deutlich, dass die Entscheidung für den Zweiten Bildungsweg in einer Partnerschaft als kooperative Pflicht das Spannungsverhältnis zwischen individuellem Streben und partnerschaftlicher Verantwortung zum Ausdruck bringt.
The Second Chance Education through adult schools is based on the idea of an ongoing educational journey. Simultaneously, it offers a possibility for its transformation. Subjectively, it gains significance as either a fresh start in one's professional career or as an opportunity for further qualification and redirection. This points to a general dynamic of de-standardization in life courses, emphasizing an individualization movement in adulthood. This individualization encounters various life models in adulthood. This study focuses on women who decide to pursue education in adulthood while maintaining a romantic relationship. For this group, there seems to be a particular potential for emancipation in the Second Chance Education. Central to this is the idea of social and professional advancement vis-à-vis the partner through the desired educational attainment. Through a mixed-methods approach, the thesis examines the extent to which the educational subject (the self) and the couple construction (the partnership) represent conflicting poles in the decision-making process. The individual level - examined through a quantitative questionnaire study - revealed the dominant motives for educational aspirations and a desire for career advancement while simultaneously excluding the partner from the educational decision. In contrast, a perspective on the partnership - explored through a qualitative-reconstructive interview study - frames the decision as a delegative mechanism. It becomes evident that the decision for Second Chance Education within a partnership as a cooperative obligation expresses the tension between individual striving and partnership responsibility.
