dc.description.abstract The Laser Ranging Instrument (LRI) measures the biased range between the two GRACE Follow-On spacecraft (launched in May 2018) using laser interferometry. It is the first of its type and serves as a technology demonstrator. Here we present the working principle and a brief report on the first turn-on of the instrument. In particular, we will discuss the laser link acquisition and possible methods of calibrating Tilt-to-Length coupling. eng
